Hemke reeds are made with a shorter vamp for a dark tone which is often favoured by both classical and jazz musicians. Hemke reeds are particularly well suited to traditionally shaped, round-chamber mouthpieces. They are French filed which provides freedom of response, especially when moving in the lower registers, this adds clarity of tone and makes doft attacks easier.
